Plague Doctor with Cloves | Original acrylic painting
This is an original painting of a plague doctor with cloves. This herb was used as medicine during the time of the plague, and modern herbalists continue to use it today. Cloves were used in 'thieves vinegar' which doctors soaked sponges in and put in the beaks of their masks. It mostly was used as a pungent concoction to keep away the 'miasma' or bad smells that doctors at the time caused it to spread.
Today, essential oil made with cloves and other spices/herbs and thieves vinegar is pretty ubiquitous in herbal remedies. Cloves also just have a comforting warming feeling in scents and drinks.
The gold details on the googles are dotted with metallic paint, so they'll have a bit of a little extra pop in person.
This is an original acrylic painting on canvas board that measures 8 inches by 10 inches. It has a cardstock backing with the name of the piece, date completed, and my signature.
